We just celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary but we began dating in 1984.
What advice would you seek out from an older interracial couple?
How do I appreciate and speak a language without dipping into appropriation?
Race is only a small part of who you are, and respect and love can strengthen you in the face of adversity.
You were attracted to each other by some common interests. There’ll always be someone who doesn’t like the fact that you are married, but there are many more who support you. We both happened to work at the same school, so we started out as friends and confidants and after life threw some obstacles at us, we ended up falling in love.
To honor the anniversary, we asked four interracial couples to share their experiences.
